About This License

"Roofing contractor work" means the installation, fabrication or assembly of equipment or systems included in commercial or residential roofing systems as defined in the International Building Code and the International Residential Code, as adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission, and roofing construction work including, but not limited to, installation, renovation, remodeling, reroofing, reconstructing, repair, maintenance, improvement, alteration, and waterproofing, unless specifically excluded in the Roofing Contractor Registration Act.

Requirements to Obtaining your License

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Certificate of General Liability Insurance: Minimum $500,000. (Minimum $1,000,000.00 for Roofing Contractor Registration and Commercial Endorsement)
  • Roofing contractors who do not perform commercial roofing contractor work and only perform residential roofing contractor work do not need to obtain a commercial endorsement. *
  • Proof of securing workers’ compensation coverage or satisfactory proof of exemption or self-insurance as authorized under the Workers’ Compensation Act
  • Affidavit verifying lawful presence in the United States.
  • Every applicant's business name must currently be registered with the Oklahoma Secretary of State (405) 521-4211. You must submit at least one of the following documents issued by the Oklahoma Secretary of State: Certificate of Record of Trade Name, Certificate of Record of Fictitious Name, Certificate of Good Standing
  • This exam is required to be passed to obtain a Residential or Commercial Roofing Contractor License.
  • Pre-approval is required from the state before sitting for the examination.

Exam Details

  • The exam has 50 questions and a time limit of 2 hours
  • A score of 70% is required to pass.
  • Topics include: Topics include Bidding and Estimating, Project Management and Supervision, Contracts, Financial, Labor and Personnel , Risk Management, Payroll and Payroll Taxes, and Licensing Requirements

Continuing Education
