    Passing the Business and Law Exam is required to be licensed. Must be 21 years old for the Master. No exam is required for the Journeyman, but 4 years of experience as an apprentice and 1 year Journeyman is required to apply to take the Master. Required to have prior approval from the State Board before testing. The course includes highlighting guides, practice tests, theory, calculations, instructor support and test taking tips/strategies. Each time you take a practice test, the questions are randomly generated from our database. The highlighting guides and quizzes are designed to familiarize students with testing materials. We do not provide students with exact test questions, as the state does not release this information.

About This License

An Electrical Contractor may engage in the business of contracting to install, erect, repair or alter electrical equipment for the generation, transmission or utilization of electrical energy.

Requirements to Obtaining Your License

  • Passing the Business and Law Exam is required to be licensed.
  • Must be 21 years old for the Master.
  • A $1,000 surety bond and general liability insurance minimum of $300,000 is required for licensure.
  • No exam is required for the Journeyman, but 4 years of experience as an apprentice and 1 year Journeyman is required to apply to take the Master.
  • Required to have prior approval from the State Board before testing.

Exam Details

  • 50 questions and a time limit of 130 minutes (Business and Law)
  • 100 questions and a time limit of 260 minutes
  • Exam requires a 70% to pass.
  • Topics on the examination includes: General Electrical Knowledge, Raceways and Enclosures, Services, Feeders, and Branch Circuits, Overcurrent Protection, Conductors and Cables, Grounding and Bonding, Equipment for General Use, Special Occupancies, Special Equipment and Conditions, Motors and Controls, Low Voltage and Communications Circuits, Safety
